Dom & Sub is a body of illustrative work in digital media that attempts to humanize practitioners of BDSM and offer a representation of kinky sex that not only refutes negative stereotypes but informs the audience that sadomasochistic play is done best between happy, healthy, and consenting adults. I portrayed the couple in the work not only engaging in S&M play but also building a “scene” together and nurturing one another after the play has concluded; these are moments often left unconsidered or completely ignored in visual representations of S&M. I believe it’s important to see how kinky scenes are crafted with care, commitment to safety and enthusiastic consent in order to limit those times when sadomasochistic play is used to abuse or dehumanize other human beings. It is my hope that my audience will learn from the illustrations that sadomasochistic play is not always dark or scary, and that fellow ‘kinksters’ can enjoy tender representations of S&M that do not ridicule or pathologize them. I’ve designed the work to engage sadomasochistic imagery, material and theory with an ethical conscience.

I don’t know if you know this, tumblr user koolkidseatgreens, but Ke$ha is a certified genius. She has an IQ over 140 and an SAT score of 1500. When she was younger she would go to the library and do research for fun. Ke$ha is a both feminist and an advocate for equal marriage/rights for people of any sexuality, being a queer woman herself.

Ke$ha is a smart, professional woman, and just because she sings songs about wanting to let loose and have fun every once in a while doesn’t make her a piece of shit.

Ke$ha’s songs are meant to point out the sexism in our media. She treats men the same way many men in the music industry treat women, and she is hated on for it. Relentlessly. She sings on multiple occasions about taking charge in a sexual relationship, of how she only uses men for their body parts. She sexualizes men to make them uncomfortable. She sexualizes men for a reaction, so that people can both see why women are so uncomfortable with their sexualization and also to point out the inequality between the sexes both in the media and in the world at large.

She is judged so harshly for singing about things that make many men famous.

If you listen to Ke$ha’s deconstructed album you will see that she actually has some talent, which may be hard to hear because she does in fact use a fair amount of autotune. This is because of her genre and because of the kind of music she chooses to create as an artist. Ke$ha may not write her songs, but this doesn’t meant she isn’t a good artist or a good person. This doesn’t mean she deserves your harsh words. Some singers are good at writing, but that’s hardly a requirement. Last time I checked whether or not you can sing has nothing to do with whether or not you’re a poet.

You should not be calling anyone a piece of shit, my friend, especially someone you’ve never sat down and had a conversation (or even taken the time to wonder about her feelings!), but if anyone deserves that kind of language it’s not Ke$ha.

You may think that by shaming women for expressing their sexuality and having fun every once in a while, that you are somehow abolishing sexism. That in weeding out the less ‘deserving’ women you are gaining our sex more respect. This is not the case, and the fact that you and many others feel such a strong need to shame this woman who has done nothing wrong, especially not to you, shows that we still have a very far away to go.

Feminism IS needed and genders and not treated as equal.

I wish they were equal and everyone got treated without any prejudice, but that seems to be a problem.

Guys need Feminism too. Seriously.

No-one should be told “Pink is a girl’s colour” or “stop being a girl and…”.

The 3 bravest people I know are women, and I can name instantly 10 women who could kick me to the curb without any trouble, but even then I still find myself saying “Man up!” in video games.

I do say that mostly in satire and just kinda up-play the ridiculousness of it all, but I am sure that some people think I am serious.

The saddest part is that Feminism is so often misconstrued to mean “the female equivalent of Misogyny” (Otherwise known as a Misandry - Facebook tried to tell me that is not a word… This is just getting awkward).

That alone means that equality is not here, because Feminism is just after equality for women. Nothing impossible, just equality. If you see a person, do not judge them and treat them as a person.

Seriously, the number of women being paid less than men for the same job is insane. Women on average earn $0.77 for every $1.00 a man earns. That is messed up.

I know people argue for things like: “But we should hold doors open for women, next they will be telling us not to do that!” and “Feminists hate men”.

but sadly you are retarded and don’t particularly grasp the concept of holding a door open for anyone, regardless of gender. (Although, please go out of your way to open doors for the elderly, disabled people, heavily pregnant women and people holding things)

And for all you people who say “If you wear makeup you are conforming to society and are not a true Feminist” please grow up. I respect your opinion, but please do not JUST say you are a “True Feminist”. You are grouping the rest of us in with you.

I never gave much notice of this statistic. Until I found out that a co-worker with the same job title as me was being paid $2/hour more than I was. Although I had been working a year longer than he had.

I thought, oh prob a mistake. No, my other co worker (female) with the same job who was hired a month after him was being paid $2 less as well.

The ironic part is that I found out about this, bc he and I were talking about feminism. And he says women are equal, and I pointed out women are paid less. And when I told him how much I was paid, his jaw dropped. Sadly, I proved my point.
